AURA FRIEDMAN | COLORIST

When working with color, Aura Friedman’s attention to detail is what sets her apart from other colorists. Whether evaluating a client at the salon or on-set, she considers everything about the person, from eye color to skin tone to brow shades and personal style. This allows her to create the simple elegance she has become known for.

Aura was born in Israel and grew up in San Diego, California. She moved to Miami Beach, Florida where her hair coloring skills really began to shine. When Allure magazine listed her as the best colorist of Miami Beach, she knew it was time to follow her dreams and move to New York to begin working on fashion, celebrity editorial and runway projects.

In order to keep up with the latest trends, Aura is constantly working on new ideas and creative concepts. Her inspiration comes from everyday experiences such as haute couture, film, and art. Aura is not only just known for her natural eye and creativity for hair coloring, but for her ability to speak about her craft. Aura has worked with Bumble and bumble to speak with beauty editors about hair color trends for 2010 and she is currently the spokesperson for Wella Haircare brands in the US.

Since joining Sally Hershberger Downtown, Aura’s celebrity clientele has been growing rapidly, and some of her clients include; Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lawrence, M.I.A, Carolyn Murphy, Sophie Dahl, SantiGold, Caroline Palacheck, Sky Ferreira, Ashley Smith and Aline Weber. She is also known for her artistic ability to color wigs and paint hair wefts. Her talents have been heavily utilized and Aura has worked on many shows, most notably, with designer Peter Som for New York Fashion Week.
